With the only fully functioning Micro Grid of it's kind in New Zealand, we wanted to give the delegates at this year's EEA conference and Trade Exhibition in Auckland the opportunity to have a look at it and understand how and why it works the way that it does. 

The 150kW Solar farm on site and a 30kW / 130kWh smart storage system, enable us to generate, store and efficiently use the energy we create to power our entire facility for most of the day.

The system monitors usage, generation and storage capacity and will use, store or dump solar energy in the most efficient way to ensure our facility is powered by the Micro Grid as much as possible.

The EEA site tour will include a presentation around the technology chosen and the reasons why.  How the gear works and what the aim of the installation was.  We'll have a morning tea break and then a tour of the facility to take in all the sustainability initiative TransNet has put in place as well as a close up look at the storage system.
